Queen guitarist Brian May has said he is “feeling good” after undergoing surgery on his leg to address a “painful heel situation” that had been affecting his live performances.
May spoke in detail about his health in an update posted on Instagram earlier this week.
“I’m done! After a snip to my calf muscle, I’m feeling good,” May said in a caption posted along with a photo of him in a hospital bed attached to medical devices.
May said the surgery will help release the excess tension in his Achilles’ tendon and get him out of a painful heel situation he has been in for many months.
“I had the problem all through our last tour of the USA – and although adrenaline got me through, my running around was severely curtailed, and there were a couple of nights when I really couldn’t move at all around the stage,” May added.
He expressed hope for a full recovery “just in time for getting back out on tour in January – hopefully with a good pair of heels.”
