Former Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont volleyball star Karlie Taylor is having quite the senior year at the University of Northern Iowa. Taylor was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year during last week’s MVC Conference tournament. Taylor also earned her third All-MVC first team all-conference honor. Taylor leads the Missouri Valley in kills, averaging almost four and a half per set.
Taylor’s UNI teammate, Pella graduate Emily Holterhaus, was also named to the Missouri Valley All-Freshman team after getting 188 kills during the regular season.
UNI lost to Illinois State in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament championship match on Saturday (11/30). But the Panthers still earned a spot in the NCAA tournament. UNI will play Missouri in the opening round of the tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday (12/6). If the Panthers win, they would face Nebraska or Ball State.
