KISS recently performed an interesting concert on a boat in Port Lincoln in South Australia as part of a promotion for Airbnb’s travel program Animal Experiences.

The plan was to use the low-frequency sound of rock ‘n’ roll to attract sharks so that passengers aboard the glass-bottomed board could have a closer look at the predators.

Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer performed, but unfortunately, the sharks did not show up.

“I would say it’s one of the most unusual, eclectic things we ever did, that’s for sure,” Singer told Australian TV.

Simmons said the show was “probably the most interesting gig I’ve ever done.”

Paul Stanley, who missed the event as he recovers from the flu, said he was initially “a little taken aback” by the unique concept.

“I’m not sure how much of us the sharks can take,” he joked. “I’m hoping they know ‘Rock And Roll All Nite.'”

Adventure Bay Charters owner Matt Waller still feels using sound waves instead of blood or bait to attract sharks is the way to go.

“We’ve got onto this road of acoustic attraction and being more passive,” he said. “What we’re doing here is playing a concert for the sharks as opposed to the sharks being entertainment for us.”
