Is this summer’s Woodstock 50 festival in trouble? Well, that’s the speculation after word came out that ticket sales, which were supposed to happen today, have been postponed.
“There is currently a hold on the Woodstock 50 on-sale date,” read an email that was sent to agents representing acts on the bill. “We are waiting on an official press statement from Woodstock 50 regarding updated announce, ticket pricing, and overall festival information. We will get this information to you as soon as we receive it.”
Rumors began to circulate that the festival was in danger of being canceled due to an issue with permit clearances, but promoter Michael Lang insists that’s not the case. “Woodstock is a phenomenon that for fifty years has drawn attention to its principles and also the rumors that can be attached to that attention,” Lang, a co-promoter of the original 1969 festival, insisted, noting that reports of a cancellation are “just more rumors.”
Woodstock 50 is set to take place August 16th – 18th in Watkins Glen, New York, featuring such acts as Jay-Z, the Killers, Imagine Dragons, Chance the Rapper, The Raconteurs, Robert Plant and the Sensational Shapeshifters, Halsey, Miley Cyrus, Dead & Company, Greta Van Fleet, Sturgill Simpson, Brandi Carlile and more.
