Paul McCartney’s trip that started with his recent Egypt Station will continue in a limited deluxe Egypt Station Traveller’s Edition that was announced Thursday (Feb. 14) for release May 10 on Capitol Records. Housed in an embossed vintage-looking suitcase, it will feature vinyl pressings, additional audio and video performances, a cassette and paper items related to the album. The set will retail for $360.
One of the main features will be three unreleased tracks: “Frank Sinatra’s Party,” “Sixty Second Street” and an extended version of “Who Cares.” Also included are four live album tracks taken from McCartney’s performances at Abbey Road Studios, the Cavern Club, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and Grand Central Station in New York City. Additionally, the package will have a deluxe 180G vinyl album, an Egypt Station Concertina CD and an Egypt Station Blue Cassette. Buyers will also get a set of HD audio tracks.
In keeping with the album theme, theEgypt Station suitcase will include maps, a travel itinerary, lithographs of McCartney paintings,Egypt Station luggage stickers, travel folders, luggage stickers, a “travel journal” with copies of McCartney’s handwritten lyrics, playing cards, a jigsaw puzzle, and a copy of a note written by the former Beatle.
Fans can get a pre-order link for the set by signing up by 6pm PT today on his website. Pre-order begins Friday, Feb. 15 at 9am ET.
Egypt Station, which was released Sept. 7, entered the Billboard 200 album charts at No. 1, McCartney’s first chart-topping album since Tug of War in 1982 and his first to enter the charts at No. 1. McCartney’s current Freshen Up Tour resumes March 20 at the National Stadium in Santiago, Chile, and returns to America May on 23 for a string of dates beginning in New Orleans and set to end at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 13.
