The PCM Girls picked up a big road win last night beating Gilbert 56-47, the boys however, not so lucky as they fell to the Tigers 58-46. The game was heard live on our Area Game of the Week coverage on KBOE. The Mustang girls trailed 9-6 after one quarter but came storming back in the 2nd quarter to gain a 22-20 halftime lead. It was still anybody’s game after three quarters as PCM clung to a 1 point lead, but a big fourth quarter allowed the Mustangs to get the win. Jayci Vos was hot in the first half with 10 points, but held to only two in the second half, however Kayla Jennings had a huge second half scoring 22 of her game leading 26 points to lead PCM to victory. PCM improved to 11-5 in the heart of Iowa Conference while Gilbert slipped to 12-4.
The boys’ game was tight after one quarter as P-C-M led 10-9, but it was all Gilbert from there as they outscored P-C-M 20-7 in the second quarter and the Mustangs never climbed back in. P-C-M’S leading scorer Logan Gilman, who averages 21 points per game, was held scoreless in the first half, although he finished with 11 points, but Luke Greiner picked up the slack scoring 18 points to lead the Mustangs. With the win Gilbert locked up the Heart of Iowa Conference title improving to 14-4 overall and 12-3 in HOIC play while PCM slipped to 13-7 and 10-5 falling to 3rd place in conference play
