Oskaloosa started out with a quick two-touchdown lead on No 6 Pella Friday night at Lacey Complex Stadium in a game between the Class 3A, District 7 co-leaders. But the Dutch came back to force the game to overtime with 41 seconds remaining on a 26-yard field goal by Chase Carter. After Pella scored on its first play in overtime, Oskaloosa countered with an eight-yard touchdown pass from Cole Henry to Casey Hill. The Indians had to choose whether to go for the PAT to tie the game and send the game to a second overtime or go for the two-point conversion and the win. Oskaloosa (6-1, 3-0) went for the win and Henry connected with Tyler Miller for the winning score as the Indians won the thriller 36-35. Oskaloosa only had 41 yards rushing and 211 yards passing on the night.
Hill finished the night with 52 yards on the ground and three touchdowns while Henry was 14 of 27 passing for 211 yards and a touchdown. Miller caught five passes for 50 yards while Hill had four receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Blom had a monster night on the defensive side of the ball as he recorded 21 tackles and RaShaun Braggs intercepted a pair of Pella passes. The Indians go on the road next as they face Knoxville.
